Call for Nominations: 2012 Best Cancer Reporter Award

The European School of Oncology (ESO) is seeking nominations for its annual Best Cancer Reporter Award which honours excellence in cancer journalism. The Award – which has a top prize of €10,000 – is presented each year to a professional journalist who has made an outstanding contribution to enhancing public understanding about cancer.

The 2012 course of the Erice International School of Science Journalism and Communication - on the multifaceted issue of Nanotechnologies - will be in the beginning of August.

Twenty-four fellowships covering tuition fees, travel and lodging will be available for science journalists, communicators and students from EU countries.

"How Computer Science and Materials Science are improving the world”.

The department of Materials Science and Engineering of Saarland University has close connections to the Material Engineering Center Saarland, a Steinbeis Research Center, the Fraunhofer Institute for Non-Destructive Testing, the Leibniz Institute for New Materials and some other reasearch centers, thus the journalists will get the information also from these institues. Please find enclosed the invitation from the University and a preliminary programme.

The European Geosciences Union (EGU) is offering fellowships for journalists to report on ongoing research in the geosciences. Successful applicants will receive up to €5k to cover expenses related to their projects, including following scientists on location.

World Conference of Science Journalists – WCSJ – som skulle hållits i Kairo i juni flyttar till Qatars huvudstad Doha, meddelar styrelsen för World Federation of Science Journalists. Den 27–29 juni 2011 hålls konferensen.
